Hey Owen, sorry for my delay, got going with the work week and didn't have a chance to check back on the forum.

I just tested this exact scenario. I went into Advanced Settings and set "Disable System Hooks (applications)" to "Application hooks will be disabled" while leaving the polling hooks, shell hooks, and the "Pause Global Hooks on Full Screen" option at their default settings.

Unfortunately, it did not fix the problem. The visual trap still occurs—the intro video plays and accepts keyboard input (I can hear the menu initializing in the background), but the video canvas remains locked on top of the screen.

It seems that disabling just the application hooks globally isn't enough to release the video window layer. It appears to require the broader behavior of the full "Pause Global Hooks on Full Screen" setting to hand off cleanly. Let me know what you'd like me to isolate next!

Dear FileSeek Support Team,

I purchased a FileSeek licence primarily to search for text within a large collection of documents stored on my computer. Most of these files are Microsoft Word .doc documents created with different versions of Word, particularly Word 97-2003, as well as .docx and PDF files. .docx too (last version office 365)

When I perform certain searches, FileSeek locates the files but is unable to search their contents and repeatedly displays errors such as:

Failed to call IPersistFile.Load. [HR: 2147751692 (0x8004170C)] [System.Exception]

Failed to call IPersistFile.Load. [HR: E_FAIL (0x80004005)] [System.Exception]

In other cases, the following message appears:

No handler found for this file. Searching using the standard method. [System.Exception]

The problem appears to occur mainly with .doc files, although it does not affect every .doc document. FileSeek is able to search inside some files with the same extension, while other apparently similar .doc files produce the errors mentioned above. Therefore, I am unsure whether the issue is related to the specific Word file version, the filters or handlers installed in Windows, the FileSeek configuration, or certain internal characteristics of the affected documents.

I would appreciate detailed instructions on how to configure FileSeek so that it can search within as many files as possible, particularly .doc, .docx, and .pdf documents. Please provide step-by-step guidance regarding the following points:

Which handlers, filters, or Windows components must be installed for FileSeek to search inside Word 97-2003 documents and files created with other versions of Microsoft Word.
How the File Handlers section in FileSeek should be configured for .doc, .docx, and .pdf files.
Whether FileSeek uses Microsoft Office IFilters or its own system to extract text from documents.
How I can verify which handler FileSeek is using for each file type.
Whether there is an alternative search method for .doc documents that produce the IPersistFile.Load error.
Whether I need to install any additional Microsoft Office components, Microsoft Filter Packs, Adobe PDF IFilter, or other software.
Whether the architecture of FileSeek, Microsoft Office, and the installed filters must match, for example, whether they must all be 32-bit or 64-bit.
Whether these errors may be caused by old documents, partially corrupted files, compatibility-mode documents, or files whose .doc extension does not match their actual internal format.
Whether FileSeek can automatically fall back to another search method when the main handler fails, rather than skipping the contents of the document.
What exact configuration you recommend for searching simultaneously through thousands of .doc, .docx, and .pdf files stored in multiple folders and subfolders.

My objective is to enter one or more words and locate every document containing those words, regardless of the Word version used to create the document. Searching only by filename is not sufficient, because I need FileSeek to examine the actual text within each document.

I have attached several screenshots showing the errors and examples of the affected files. I would appreciate it if you could review them and provide the exact steps required to configure the program correctly and obtain the maximum benefit from the licence I purchased.

I can also provide the installed FileSeek version, Windows version, Microsoft Office version and architecture, and a sample file that produces the error, provided that you explain how to send it securely.

My SSOO is Windows 11, last version. I

Thank you for your assistance.

Kind regards,

DisplayFusion is on sale right now for up to 50% off!

Visit the DisplayFusion purchase page for more information.

We're very excited to announce that DisplayFusion 12.1 is now available for download! This big new release fixes many issues, improves performance in many areas, and updates DisplayFusion to run on the new .NET 10. We have been testing this release for the last few months over many beta versions so a big thanks to everyone who helped with testing. Update for free today, thanks everyone!

DisplayFusion 12.1 Highlights

Change: Updated to run on .NET 10, the new framework will be automatically installed during the update

Change: New Scripting Function to get taskbar size

Change: DisplayFusion now handles settings restore instead of passing to regedit, allowing a settings backup to restored by non-admin users

Change: Removed the Google Image Search wallpaper source as Google has removed the API authentication for it

Change: Added the ability to toggle HDR in Monitor Configuration and save it with Monitor Profiles (toggles HDR only, does not set HDR colour depth or format)

Change: Added an option to Custom Functions that allows them to be toggled (i.e. after running the function on a window, a second run will revert the window to its previous size/location)

Change: Improvements to existing "Span Window Across All Monitors" function (you can switch back to the old behaviour with an advanced setting if needed)

Change: Added a new "Span Window Across Specific Monitors" function that allows you to select the monitors to span

Change: Added a button in the Desktop Wallpaper window to delete the Windows transcoded wallpaper file

Fix: Taskbar no longer forced to bottom when running PowerToys Command Palette

Fix: Resolved a script download issue

Fix: Resolved an issue where wrong process name was sometimes detected for Triggers

Fix: AutoCAD 2027 now shows up on DisplayFusion taskbar

Fix: EssentialPIM Pro taskbar button no longer disappears on minimize

Fix: Resolved an issue where Settings on the Adjustments tab in the wallpaper window didn't apply correctly in some cases

Updating DisplayFusion

We encourage everyone to update to this new version today to take advantage of these improvements. If you've already purchased DisplayFusion, it's a lifetime license, so you can upgrade to this version at no cost! If you would like to see a complete list of all the changes, please visit the DisplayFusion change log. Thank you to everyone who helped to test the beta versions, that feedback is what makes DisplayFusion so amazing. We would also like to thank all of the translators who have helped translate DisplayFusion to their native languages. Thanks everyone!
